  • Locate your meter’s CIU and plug it into a suitable power source
  • Input any of the codes—990, 0000, 999, or 8888—into  your CIU
  • After inputting the codes, click on the “ENTER” tab, and your prepaid meter will reset automatically. 

N/B:

If you try the first code and it doesn’t reset your meter, you should try other codes, and before you finish using all the codes, your prepaid meter will have been reset automatically. 

However, if the above methods didn’t work for you, then you should follow the alternative steps below to reset your prepaid electricity meter. 

  • Plug your CIU into power source
  • Input “990” into the CIU and tap the “ENTER” tab (usually green, red, or blue in colour).
  • Now, input “888” and click on the enter button again
  • Next, input “999” and confirm it by clicking the “ENTER” tab. At this point, your CIU screen will display the “RESET” message.
  • Once it displays the RESET message, you should unplug your CIU and replug it.
  • After replugging it, you can then load your 20-digit token into your meter and start using your meter.

Nevertheless, if your prepaid meter is still malfunctioning after using the above methods, you should try this method below:

  • Switch on your meter’s CIU
  • Input “990” and click on the “ENTER’’ button and you will get a response
  • Now, input “0000” and click on the “ENTER’’ tab and you will get “GOOD” as a response.
  • Next, put “999” into the CIU again and click on the “ENTER’’ button and you will see “RESET” as a response
  • Once you get this response, you will need to unplug your CIU and replug it.
  • Once you replug it, load the prepaid token into your meter, and it will work perfectly.
